Can I Go to a Maternity Home as a Minor?

When facing an unplanned pregnancy, you need a safe and supportive place you can go, no matter your age. At Lamb of God Maternity Home, we accept minors who provide a completed and signed parental consent form or are emancipated.

Why Do We Require a Parental Consent Form?

Determining how to handle your unplanned pregnancy is one of the most significant decisions you will make in your life. Our team wants you to have as much support as possible in making that choice.

If you are still living with your parent(s) or guardian(s), they must provide a completed consent form so we can properly care for you. Our maternity homes offer 24/7 support at no cost to you or them, but we need their approval.

What is Emancipation?

Emancipation is a legal procedure that releases children from the custody and control of their parents or guardians before they reach the age of majority. The “age of majority” means you are responsible for yourself. Up until the age of majority, you are considered a minor.

Each state has a different age of majority, but it is age 18 for most states. In California and Utah, where our homes are located, the age of majority is 18.

What Do I Receive at Lamb of God?

At Lamb of God Maternity Homes, you receive all the necessary resources during pregnancy. We provide housing, prenatal care, education, emotional support, adoption referrals, and life skills training.

Our compassionate team walks alongside you as you determine a plan. Because your situation and pregnancy are unique, we don’t have one answer for everything. We talk about your goals and your hopes for the future.

Many mothers have passed through our doors. Some have chosen to parent their child, and others have decided to make an adoption plan. We encourage you to read their stories
